Heart after God own heart

Contrary to most people’s belief, you should not follow your heart. Why?

Matthew 15:19
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

The human heart is by nature selfish, part of the body. The heart is full of emotions that seem right but are not.

Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Friends of the sinful heart

  • World
    James 4:4
You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

1 Peter 2:11
Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.

  • Flesh
    Romans 7:23
…but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.
  • Devil
    1 Peter 5:8
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Don’t be fooled you can’t have a heart full of evil and be of God or saved.

James 3:11
Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?

John 8:44
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire.

How do we know what’s in our heart, just listen to yourself.

Matthew 15:18
But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.'

Matthew 12:34
You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.

What do you have stored in your heart? Are your goals to benefit you or others? Do you have compassion for the lost?

Luke 6:45
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

God’s perspective on the lost, good hearts holds the lost in this High Regard.

1 Corinthians 8:11
So this weak brother,
for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.

Romans 14:15
If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother
for whom Christ died.

Edify the bothered, you are a vital part of the body of Christ, if you have not found your place, seek for God’s guidance. You are useless and vulnerable outside of a congregation.

Hebrews 10:25
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

1 Corinthians 12:27
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

All Christians should be ever learning, not all are teachers but from the Apostles to the baby Christians all of us need to learn to grow spiritually.

God gave everybody a conscience, when you are called he will not let you stray. Sin will not go unchecked in you life. He has sealed your heart with his spirit.

Jeremiah 31:33
"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Hebrews 8:10
This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

God give us today a heart fully devoted to the LORD.

1 Kings 11:4
As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his
heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been.

1 Samuel 13:14
But now your kingdom will not endure; the LORD has sought out
a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people, because you have not kept the LORD's command.
