Elders with Harps and Bowls fall down

Revelation 5:8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Matthew 25:31
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.

If John is one of the elders, how can he be present in this scene? These two verses tell us that John should be one of the elders. Did he not recognize himself? God is able to have a person in two places at the same time, but this would be the first time in the scriptures.

Matthew 19:28
Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Luke 22:30
so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Is it John the apostle the autor of the book of Revelations? John did not recognize Jesus earlier in this book in Revelations 1:9-18 even if he spent three years with him and also saw in in the tranfiguration. To be fair Jesus is able to hide his appearance.

Mark 16:12 Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country.
